The Nordic house in Reykjavik is a meeting place for Nordic art, culture, language and social discussion. We work cross-sectorally with broad themes and focus on inclusive methods in our work with the audience as well as partners and colleagues.
The library, the children's library and our Hvelfing exhibition hall serve as the basis for our program. In addition to the ongoing program, we arrange supplementary activities such as discussions, seminars, festivals and other art and culture projects. An important target group for our activities are children and young people, their families, daycare centers and schools. We have a friendship school collaboration with some schools outside Reykjavik city center and we are host to the Swedish and Latvian schools in Reykjavik.
The Nordic house administers the communication project Norden i Fokus in Iceland and is the secretariat for the Nordic Council's literature prize, children's and youth literature prize and the environmental prize.
