Founded in 1938, Arlei is currently one of the largest exporters of crust leather in the world. The company began as a small vegetable sole leather trading house distributing goods to local footwear and handbag manufacturers, and gradually expanded with the construction of a vegetable tannery in Salta (northwestern Argentina) and a chrome/chrome free tannery in Santa Fe (northeastern Argentina), and later on its finishing plant and a cutting and sewing facility in Buenos Aires. Initially under the management of its founder Mr. Arturo Leiser, and now continued by the following generation, Viviana and Alan Leiser, leading over 2000 employees, the company is acknowledged as one of the leading tanneries in South America.
