Who We Are:
Power Unit Youth Organization is a youth-driven non-profit organization based in Toronto, striving to promote youth development and empowerment through philanthropy. 2009 is the inaugural year for PUYO as a standalone organization run by youth, for youth, and seeking to extend our missions and providing more opportunities to empower the youth from all over the GTA.
Originally founded in 2002 and completely volunteer-based, PUYO continues to motivate youth to understand the importance and the impact one can make in the community through philanthropic means. The mission is realized through planning and executing small- and large-scale community initiatives, youth development programs, charity fundraisers and other such initiatives. To date, PUYO has fundraised over $130,000 for local charities and has grown from a small group of enthusiastic university students to over 170 students and recent graduates from across the GTA. Members range from 16- to 26-year-olds with diverse backgrounds and interest, all united under the belief that youth can leave an indelible mark upon society for the better. Dedication, spirit and philanthropy set the organization apart from other youth development programs.
Night It Up!, formerly known as Toronto Night Market, has been and continues to be the organization's flagship project, attracting over 120,000 attendees to a three-day celebration of the pan-Asian multiculturalism that is uniquely Toronto.
