For over 30 years the German film-production company Ma.ja.de. has consistently delivered documentaries and feature films selected at international festivals and securing worldwide distribution. Established in 1991 by Heino Deckert, Ma.ja.de. Filmproduktion has completed an eclectic range of high-profile collaborations with renowned directors, including Sergej Loznitsa, Pirjo Honkassalo, Vitalij Manskij, Viktor Kossakovsky, Ulrike Ottinger, Ai Weiwei, Heidi Specogna and Thomas Heise.
Ma.ja.de. has produced more than 120 documentaries up to date. The documentary RABBIT À LA BERLIN was nominated for an Oscar in 2009. Their feature and doc films have been screened at all major festivals around the world, including six films in Cannes, two of which were in competition, and seven films in Venice. They are known for award-winning titles such as THE UNIVERSAL THEORY (2023 by Timm Kröger, Venice), HEIMAT IST EIN RAUM AUS ZEIT (2019 by Thomas Heise, Toronto), DONBASS (2018 by Sergei Loznitsa, Cannes) and AQUARELA (2016 by Victor Kossakovsky, Venice).
Based in Leipzig with an office in Berlin the team is lead by Heino Deckert and Tina Börner. Producer Katharina Bergfeld joined them in 2023.
