Founded in 1992 in Paris by Mario Cucinella, MCA - Mario Cucinella Architects includes more than 100 professionals based in Bologna and Milan.
MCA specialises in architectural design that integrates environmental and energy strategies, thanks also to its in-house R&D unit which analyses trends in the property sector, with a focus on sustainability.
From the creative phase to the construction on site, MCA develops the entire design process in-house using BIM methodology, which allows an integrated dialogue of skills, sensitivities, and optimizes the flow of information to avoid data loss, throughout all stages of the project.
The firm has completed projects in Europe, China, Africa, Middle East and South America. These include: Nuovo Museo d’Arte – Fondazione Luigi Rovati, New Surgical and Urgent Care Pole of the San Raffaele Hospital, both in Milan; Santa Maria Goretti Church in Mormanno (Cosenza); New Roma Tre University Rectorate in Rome; MET Tirana Building in Tirana; One Airport Square in Accra; Sino-Italian Ecological and Energy Efficient Building, in Beijing, NICE headquarters. in Limeira (Brazil)..
The firm has about fifty projects in progress including: MIND - Milano Innovation District masterplan, SeiMilano mixed-use project, the Unipol Group Headquarters, all in Milan; the Valle d’Aosta University Campus; two mixed-use towers "Viertel Zwei" in Vienna.
MCA Design - the product, interior & industrial design department - launched its first "Building Objects" collection in 2019 at FuoriSalone. Some pieces draw inspiration from the studio's architectural designs, others reproduce them.

MCA collaborates with SOS School of Sustainability Foundation. Founded in 2015 by Mario Cucinella, is a school for young professionals and recent graduates that aims to provide them with the necessary tools to address environmental issues with an open, holistic and research-driven approach.
