Set up in 2004 following the merger of 10 establishments, the Valais Hospital today asserts its presence across the canton where it is the primary employer with over 5,400 members of staff. Their dedication enabled the hospital to care for 41'700 inpatients and to handle 510'000 outpatient appointments in 2017. Annual turnover is in excess of half a billion francs.
The Valais Hospital is organised into two hospital centres and a Central Institute of Hospitals (ICH):
• Hospital Centre for Valais Romand (CHVR)
• Hospital Centre for Haut-Valais (SZO)
The CHVR includes:
• The hospitals of Martigny, Sion, Sierre
• Valais Centre for Pneumology in Montana
• Clinics of Saint-Amé (Saint-Maurice)
• Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the CHVR, based at the hospital of Malévoz in Monthey
The SZO includes:
• The hospitals of Brigue and Viège
The ICH
• Provides cross-disciplinary services to all areas and sites of the Valais Hospital, notably in laboratory medicine, pharmaceutics, medical consultation, epidemiology and IT.
