The Tartan Student Fund (TSF) is Carnegie Mellon University's premier undergraduate long-only investment fund with over $120,000 of assets under management, seeded by the University's endowment.
TSF's primary goal is to impart essential growth and value investing skills to our members. We operate within eight sectors: Consumer; Software; Technology, Media & Telecommunications; Industrials; Healthcare; Financials; Energy; and Special Situations. Each team, led by a Portfolio Manager and an Associate Portfolio Manager, collaborates with their investment Analysts to research ideas and pitch companies within their respective sector. Through our rigorous investment process, our members are given opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios to deploy capital.
TSF actively recruits and selects the most talented undergraduate students at Carnegie Mellon through a highly competitive admissions process to create an exclusive body of exceptional investors. The Fund, alongside industry-experienced alumni advisors, discusses new pitches, evaluates our current holdings, and analyzes major financial market news during weekly meetings over the semester.
