FULL, the Future Urban Legacy Lab is an interdepartmental center of the Politecnico di Torino that explores, imagines, and designs the future of global and local urban legacy embodied in city form.
FULL merges and boosts established PoliTO research experiences into a brand-new interdisciplinary approach to urban phenomena, built on the integration of morphology, economy, evidence-based design, and socio-technic understanding.
FULL assumes a complex and open definition of urban space as both a perspective to interpret the main challenges posed by a rapidly urbanizing world and a place of experimentation of projects and scenarios.
FULL main aims are to bridge knowledge of the past and visions for the future in the urban realm, to design socio-technic innovation scenarios for relevant global urban challenges and to support decision-making processes
These aims allow to work in a transcalar (global urban issues and local scale of analysis and proposal) and critical perspective.
Research activities are based on cross- and interdisciplinary methods; collaboration and experimentation; internationalization and comparison; analysis and design; theory and practice.
The team provides a broad range of competencies from various Politecnico di Torino Departments, single Università di Torino researchers and international scholars committed to the field in order to dialectically reframe issues of socio-technical nature overcoming the tech/humanities divide and fostering the intersections of past and future visions in an experimental stance accustomed to work with partial and adjusted insights.
