Care to Learn is a nonprofit organization based in Springfield, Missouri.
Mission: to meet children’s emergent health, hunger, and hygiene needs so they can succeed in school.
Vision: That all students have the confidence, self-worth, and resources to maximize their learning potential and become self-sufficient citizens
In the fall of 2007, founder Doug Pitt heard some sobering statistics about children experiencing poverty in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri. He was shocked to hear about the level of need, given that he had lived and worked in the same community for over 40 years.
Within 24 hours, Doug called upon community leaders and shared stories of children who needed help. Before the end of the business day, funds were raised to meet emergent needs of students in the areas of health, hunger, and hygiene. With this strong foundation, Care to Learn was founded in 2008.
Care to Learn currently operates in 46+ Chapters throughout the state of Missouri. To learn more, visit www.caretolearn.org/chapters.
