Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) proudly stands as the largest state-owned railway operator in the Middle East. Established in 2006 by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), SAR is renowned for its pioneering transportation and logistics solutions, committed to leading the way in innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
The history of railways in Saudi Arabia dates back to 1947 when King Abdulaziz Al Saud ordered the establishment of a new commercial port connected by railway. In 1951, King Abdulaziz inaugurated the first railway line between Riyadh and Dammam. Now, Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) is the owner and operator of railway networks in Saudi Arabia after merging with the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO), operating four rail networks, and enhancing the services offered to passengers and freight transportation clients for both minerals and cargo.
We have set to build on past successes to enable the future growth of the railway industry in the kingdom. With an unwavering focus on building our human capital to further contribute to the national progress, the company has achieved remarkable milestones in recent times.
Over the years, we have made significant contributions to transportation by demonstrating the company's commitment to achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Our focus is to further contribute to developing an integrated transportation and logistics system that transforms Saudi Arabia into a regional logistics hub connecting three continents.
