Founded in 2006, Knight Architects is a specialist architectural practice working in the field of bridge and infrastructure design whose distinctive designs serve communities, strengthen identity and generate value around the world.
The studio comprises a team of skilled, enthusiastic and talented designers with a strong reputation for design, however the greatest compliment that has been paid to us is that we are reliable and enjoyable to work with – we thrive on the collaborative creative process of bridge engineering and we understand the key demands of safety, economy, efficiency, constructability and durability which underpin the best designs.
Services range from whole design services to limited scope contracts including concept design and specialist tasks such as brief-writing, parapet and wind-shield design and colour consultancy. The practice is expert in a wide range of procurement routes and works for clients including national agencies, local authorities, regeneration companies, private developers, infrastructure providers, consulting engineers and contractors.
Our work ranges in scale from ‘architectural’ footbridges to major rail and highway structures and, although we are known for eye-catching design which helps to create identity, our services range from defining the visual character of large-scale infrastructure projects to dealing with complex planning processes.
We enjoy the definition of three-dimensional form and how it is experienced over time, how people move through their environment and how context informs architecture. We are skilled at generating concepts and ideas which are appreciated in different visual and cultural contexts. We are expert communicators, at ease with technical and non-technical audiences, able to use a range of media to explain design and solicit widespread support for projects.
We are passionate about bridge design.
