The Menzies School of Health Research (Menzies) is an independent medical and research institute based in Darwin, Northern Territory (NT).
We are proud to be a national leader in health, education and research training, specialising in Indigenous and tropical health research for more than 30 years.
Menzies’ headquarters are in Darwin, with offices in Alice Springs and Dili, Timor-Leste. Our work spans central and northern Australia, and developing countries within our global neighbourhood.
We collaborate with partners and communities to continue to find new ways of breaking the cycle of disease and improving health and wellbeing both in Australia and abroad.
Menzies was established in 1985 as a body corporate of the NT Government under the Menzies School of Health Research Act 1985 .
This Act was amended in 2004 to formalise Menzies' relationship with Charles Darwin University (CDU). Menzies is now a school within CDU's Institute of Advanced Studies.
His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie PSM, Administrator of the Northern Territory, is the official Patron of the Menzies School of Health Research.
