Company Details
The members of the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach are dedicated toward improving engineering education in the classroom; from Kindergarten to college. We have a research program aimed at understanding how kids and adults learn engineering. This research then informs our development of various educational tools. We collaborate with a number of companies to bring these tools into the classroom and then our outreach arm works with teachers around the world to further refine these tools and to support the teacher-user community. The Center houses faculty, staff, and graduate students from engineering disciplines and the education department. The Center, tucked away on the lower level of a building at Tufts, is buzzing with activity on a daily basis, with undergraduate students developing and testing innovative educational technologies, staff members facilitating teacher workshops, and visiting professors sharing their knowledge through the semester seminar series. Improving Education through Engineering: The Tufts University Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO) is a leader in supporting efforts to integrate engineering into K-12 education. The four divisions or pillars of Outreach, Products, Research, and Workshops all contribute toward the goals of: increasing student and teacher excitement for learning STEM; improving student and teacher skills so learning is more enjoyable in all subjects; increasing the general public's technological literacy; and increasing the awareness of the importance of STEM for society. Our motivation stems from our fundamental belief that the skills we help students develop are closely connected to the transformation of our physical world into a world with improved excitement for learning, higher quality of life, better health, and greater environmental responsibility awareness.
