FEMME HOUSE is a 501(c)(3) with the goal of creating and fostering more equitable opportunity for womxn and non-binary people in the technical areas of music. We seek to create the future producers, mixers, and engineers of the industry by offering educational workshops, building community, propagating visual representation, and offering professional development resources such as networking, mentorship, and more. We believe that if you can see it, you can be it, and that if we tear down the barriers to entry, we can affect change on a systemic, industry-wide level.
Since launching at MoogFest in 2019 with a panel featuring Madame Gandhi, Suzi Analogue, and Drum + Lace in conversation about the root of inequity in electronic music, we’ve held 16 free workshops at IO Academy in Los Angeles (transitioned to Zoom in April) to empower womxn with practical recording skills. In Summer of 2020, we launched our first two month-long comprehensive course on music production: Intro to Ableton Live & Building Your Beats. In August, we took over the Desert Hearts stage and Diplo's Revolution Radio on Sirius XM and lined the stage with some of our favorite womxn and non-binary artists.
We’ve also partnered with the biggest gear companies in music (Moog, Dolby, Ableton, Roland, Native Instruments, Gibson), built an engaged community of thousands, and raised money from private donors that believe in and support our vision for a more equitable music industry.
Join us for our free workshops and networking events around Los Angeles, and follow us as we pop up on the road at festivals, conferences, and more.
Welcome to FEMME HOUSE.
