WKOW TV was the first TV station in Madison, Wisconsin, established June 30, 1953. In 2021 WKOW TV became part of Allen Media Broadcasting. For nearly 70 years, WKOW TV has been a pioneer for modern technology and at the pinnacle of breaking news coverage and continues to be on the forefront of broadcast media and advanced technology.
- Nationally, WKOW TV was the smallest television station to broadcast in HDTV. Our first broadcast on WKOW-DT Channel 27.1 aired October 29, 1998. WKOW TV now has five digital channels 27.1 (ABC), 27.2 (Decades,) 27.3 (This TV,) 27.4 (Court TV) and 27.5 (True Crime.)
- 27 Storm Track Weather provides our viewers the most advanced weather forecasting in the area using state of the art technology.
- The 27 Storm Track Weather Team is the largest in South Central Wisconsin with FIVE Meteorologists Bob Lindmeier, John Zeigler, Max Tsaparis, Katherine Noel and Blaise Keller.
- 27 News is dedicated to bringing our viewers more live, local, and late-breaking news coverage. WKOW is your Digging Deeper station providing more in depth coverage of stories that affect South Central Wisconsin.
- WKOW was the first TV station in South Central Wisconsin to incorporate drone footage into our newscasts with “27 Sky Track.”

- WKOW TV is the exclusive television sponsor for the two largest events held in Southern Wisconsin: Art Fair on the Square and Taste of Madison.
- The Magic of March! For over 40 years WKOW TV has produced and broadcasted LIVE (32 games in all) the WIAA Girls and Boys State High school basketball championships.
