At MIS we understand the importance of using core activities that focuses on student centered learning. Mastery of academic-required materials, professional qualification and development of the teaching staff through continuous workshops and training seminars contribute to this effect. MIS is a Pre K – 12, English medium language college preparatory school, that offers students from the international community and the State of Qatar an American curriculum based on the California standards. Particularly, in the core subject areas of math, science, social studies and English, leading to a high school diploma upon completion of Grades 9 -12 and 24 credit. They include:
Students in grades 6 – 12 are able to access our biology, chemistry and physics laboratories, as an integral part of their science curriculum programs.
MIS offers students an expanded curriculum that could include electives and approved on-line courses not offered at MIS (i.e., Computer Science, Advance Placement (AP) courses/11 & 12 grades, SAT preparation, honor courses, Spanish, Chinese etc.).
We also offer students a wide variety of elective courses like art, Information Communication Technology (ICT), marketing, and we include the history of Qatar in our world history curriculum. Integrated technology provides a high quality of instruction through the use of computers, laboratories, and technical skills are also included in the education program.
Seniors are required to take either the SAT’s or the ACT and all tenth grade students are required to take the PSAT, in preparation for the SATs, in October of each academic year. MIS is an authorized testing center for the PSAT.
Additionally, all high school students must read four (4) novels per year in English. Seniors are required to submit a research project, using universally recognize research principles, as well as an essay that reflects the student’s five (5) year career plan, and a community service project.
