The National Center for Gene Therapy and Drug Development with RNA Technology conducts research in areas of strategic importance to the country for the production of therapies or the design of procedures for human health, integrating the development of therapies with their targeted delivery (precision delivery). It aims at the creation and renovation of research infrastructure and laboratories, the implementation and development of research programs and activities to foster the birth and growth of entrepreneurial initiatives with higher technological content (innovative start-ups and research spin-offs), and aimed at the exploitation of research results in the specified areas. The Center focuses its activities in areas of high innovative value such as gene therapy applied to the treatment of cancer or hereditary diseases and RNA-based technologies, integrating expertise in advanced biocomputing and smart nanomaterials. In the selected strategic areas, the Center has the ambition and capabilities to become an excellence and a reference point for Europe in order to make our country competitive in the development of cutting-edge drugs.
