On 1st February 2016, Abbey announced that it had completed the acquisition of Open + Direct Insurance from its UK owners, Swinton Group Limited. On 2nd October 2018, Prestige Insurance Holdings Limited, the parent company of Abbey Insurance, announced that it had completed a deal which sees US global equity firm, Capital Z Partners Management, LLC (“Capital Z”) take a majority share in the Group.
