ABK in Kuwait was founded in 1967 as a fully-fledged retail bank. Soon after its inception, the Dubai branch in the UAE was founded, primarily as a corporate bank to serve our Kuwaiti and UAE customers. Following this, the Abu Dhabi branch was opened to enhance our service offering to customers. In May 2015, ABK signed an agreement to purchase Piraeus Bank in Egypt. ABK has now rebranded 40 branches to ABK-EGYPT. The latest addition to the UAE branches was in 2018 when the DIFC opened for business as an extension to the international network.
