Naperville Area Humane Society (NAHS) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1979 to develop and implement animal welfare programs and services within Naperville and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals and create lasting human-animal bonds. The vision at NAHS is to engage people to compassionately and responsibly create a more humane world. While providing shelter and adoption programs for homeless animals, we strive to educate and deliver services to the community that reflect their integrity, respect, compassion and joy for all people and animals.
We provide people a place to adopt a dog or cat, and offer great resources and information on pet-care or challenging pet situations to the community regardless if an animal was adopted from us or not. Our Humane Education programs include opportunities for young tots through high school age, at risk youth, and youth with special needs through after-school, summer camps, holidays, and home-school groups. NAHS is a great place to volunteer your services or share your talents and passions, whether it be caring for the animals, fundraising events, or community outreach.
