Old Meadonians FC was founded in 1929, formed by the Old Boys of Chiswick County Grammar School, which later became Chiswick Community School. The name "Meadonians" originates from the early name of the School - "The School in the Meadows". The first match was played against the School on 30th November 1929 with Old Meadonians running out 11-1 winners. Old Meadonians run 9 league teams in the Amateur Football Combination, a Saturday Super Vets (over 40s ) in the West London Vets League, plus a Sunday Vets team (over 35) playing cup games as well as the occasional Sunday ‘strollers’ team playing friendlies. Being part of the Amateur Football Combination Old Meadonians always try to play football in the ‘Spirit of the game’ which involves: Showing RESPECT for: - Your opponents and their team officials - Your own captain and team - The role of the referee and assistant referees - Supporters and spectators of all ages - The Game's traditional values It is AGAINST the Spirit of the Game - To protest against the referee's decisions by word or action - To use offensive, abusive or insulting language or gestures towards any person before, during or after a match, including spectators - To indulge in cheating, gamesmanship, time-wasting or any other unsporting behaviour - To advance towards, or react to, a referee in an aggressive manner
