HOPE worldwide, Ltd., (HWW) is an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to mobilize volunteers, respond to disaster, and empower communities. Founded in 1991, HWW’s early leaders were inspired by the biblical passage, Matthew 25, to serve anyone in need. Since then, nearly two decades later, the international focus of the organization has expanded to provide hope to vulnerable communities around the world including work in the areas of healthcare, education and poverty alleviation. Currently HWW serves more than 1.5 million people annually on every continent.
In the United States, HWW sponsors more than 110 Chapters in 40 states and Puerto Rico. The three primary functions of a local chapter are to serve our neighbors who are materially poor or in need, inspire others and fundraising. Each chapter has the opportunity to operate local programs that reflect the unique needs of their community with the guidance, resources and administrative and technical support from the HOPE worldwide staff. Local chapters are led and driven by volunteers including the chapter director and advisory committee. It is the role of the latter to identify needs and help mobilize volunteers to serve in the community.
The HOPE worldwide, Bay Area Chapter’s vision is to build a volunteer pool of individuals who want to serve the poor and stand ready to activate in the event of a local disaster. By putting our faith into action, we hope to make a practical and spiritual impact in our community. We hope you will join us in this effort.
