In 1924, the Republic of Turkey had a total of 39 diplomatic and consular missions abroad. Now, it is represented by 242 missions throughout the world. These missions consist of 142 Embassies, 13 Permanent Representations to international organizations, 85 Consulate Generals, 1 Consular Agency and 1 Trade Office.
The Turkish Foreign Service, with a total of 1775 diplomats at its headquarters and missions abroad, continues to operate to conduct and further promote Turkey’s international political, economic and cultural relations in the bilateral and multilateral contexts as well as to contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in its region and beyond.
