The EDT (Engineering Development Trust) is an independent education charity, established in 1984. The charity runs a range of schemes that reach over 40,000 young people annually, helping to inspire and motivate them to choose courses and careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
EDT delivers a range of tasters, projects and placements, which run from one day experiences up to 12 months in an industry placement, providing hands-on activities and skills development for young people aged 9 to 21, and beyond.
EDT have offices based in Welwyn, Southampton, Plymouth, Birmingham, Salford and Glasgow, but schemes are run nationally throughout the England and Scotland.
Employers can get involved with EDT schemes through sponsorship and programme participation, allowing local schools and communities to understand STEM related businesses more as well as inspiring a future talent pool to focus their studies on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects.
EDT is also responsible for the national roll-out of Industrial Cadets, an industry-led quality standard for workplace experiences, aimed at young people aged 9-21.
