The Foundation’s main activity is the management of funds allocated to Cyprus by the European Commission, for the participation of Cypriot beneficiaries in European Education/Training Programmes. The Foundation manages the Erasmus+ Programme, which was launched on 1 January 2014 and has succeeded and replaced the Lifelong Learning Program, the Youth in Action Programme and other International Programmes, such as Erasmus Mundus and Tempus. Following the Programmes of the funding period 2007-13, the Erasmus+ will be supporting Actions in all fields of Lifelong Learning (School Education, Higher Education, Vocational Education and Training, Adult Education), Sports and Youth.
The objectives of the Foundation include not only the promotion of the targets and policies of the European Union in the fields of Education and Vocational Training, but also the promotion of targets and policies of the Republic of Cyprus in the same fields. The promotion of the afore-mentioned targets is achieved through:
Informing the public about the European Programmes on Education/Training and relevant policies
Funding schools/institutions/organisations for the mobility of their staff and learners for Education/Training purposes
Encouraging the participation of people of all ages in lifelong learning, including people that belong to disadvantaged groups or people with special needs
Exchanging good practices in the fields of Education/Training between the countries participating in Erasmus+
Disseminating and exploiting the results of the Erasmus+ Programme activities
