The Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Bridgeport serve as the final resting place for generations of individuals within our consecrated grounds. Ten active cemeteries, as well as four historic locations, offer solace to the mourning and honor thousands of beloved deceased. Each location is unique in character, yet united in the mission of recognizing the dignity of the human person both in our time upon this earth and in our life eternal. We adhere to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church while we welcome those of all faiths to join us. In keeping with these traditions, we counsel individuals both at the time of a loss, and increasingly ahead of time for those thoughtfully planning for the future. Most locations feature sacred statues, and monuments, which are works of art memorializing those who have passed away. Mausoleums offer the popular choice of above-ground entombment as an alternative to outdoor burial and are located throughout the diocese in all our larger locations. As cremation becomes an increasingly more common option, families are guided thoughtfully to achieve an understanding of the choices available to them within our Cemeteries.
