The BioDesign Lab is a transdisciplinary hub of engineers, designers, physiologists, neuroscientists, and clinicians that support the research and development of new non-pharmacological medical and wellbeing devices for early career innovators, new start-ups, and established companies.
With a focus on engaging with our wider MedTech community, we seek to develop effective and impactful solutions to real-life health and wellbeing challenges. This is realised through translation of end-user needs or initial solution ideation into a functional proof-of-concept device or system, in conjunction with development of key intellectual property supporting commercial innovation.
BioDesign Lab enables interdisciplinary collaborations that are essential to support translational research. This is realised through our nine research and expertise themes:
Musculoskeletal Biomechanics and Biomechatronics.
Metabolic Health Monitoring and Modification.
Technology and Human-Microbe Interactions.
Autonomic Nervous System and Biorhythm Monitoring and Modification.
Brain Signal Processing and Integration, and Artificial Intelligence.
Wearable Sensor Signal Processing and Integration.
e-Health Technologies.
Immersive 3D Data Visualisation.
Augmented Breathing.
