Oakham School is a leading fully co-educational boarding and day school for 11–18 year olds offering A-levels and the IB. We are located in the heart of safe rural England, in the historic market town of Oakham, Rutland with excellent road and rail links to London, Birmingham and Cambridge. Archdeacon Robert Johnson founded the school in 1584. In 1971, Oakham was the first boys’ independent secondary school to accept girls, and this was at all ages, not just Sixth Form.
We aim to offer the highest standards of teaching and learning, so that all pupils fulfil their academic potential. Our ambition is that our pupils not only perform well in their exams, but that they develop an intellectual curiosity that will cultivate a lifelong love of learning.
Oakham is a caring community where we nurture yet challenge our pupils and teach them how to be independent, thoughtful and responsible young adults, who are ready to take on the challenges of life beyond School.
