SPCA New Zealand provides care and protection to animals across New Zealand - animals that have been the victims of abuse, cruelty, neglect or abandonment. Each year we receive around 46,000 animals into our care and investigate more than 14,000 complaints of animal cruelty and neglect.
We are the only charity with the power to protect all animals and prosecute people under the Animal Welfare Act 1999. We rely almost entirely on donations from the public to carry out our life-saving work as we receive less than 2% of government funding.
