Fish are highly nutritious, delicious and an important component of our diet. Our goal is to balance the joy of eating fish and all the goodness they provide with the need to protect them and their natural marine habitat.
Our innovative platform offers a new way of eating fish, sustainably. Wanda Fish grows fish fillets using cell-cultivation practices outside the water.
The problem
As the global population continues to grow, the appetite for seafood likewise is on the upward trajectory. This has placed immense pressure on fisheries globally that are on the verge of collapse. Overfishing and unregulated fishing practices are depleting fish populations and harming ocean ecosystems. This is further compounded by water pollution in the form of plastic waste and industrial spills, which sea life sadly is forced fed on, and which adversely impacts our food web.
How do you like your fish?
Our GMO-free platform allows us to grow thick fish fillets including muscle and fat along with its long- touted beneficial properties of omegas 3’s and protein. We grow a range of fish varieties imbued with the taste, texture and mouthfeel of real fish. Most importantly, we do not harm the fish and protect the oceans’ ecosystem.
Our journey
We established Wanda Fish together with The Kitchen FoodTech Hub of Strauss group late last year. We just started our journey, but don’t worry, we are moving fast forward with new agreements and strong IP.
