The Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition (NWBCCC) was started by local community leaders in response to the wave of arson and abandonment that threatened to destroy the Bronx in the early 1970s. We are a 47-year-old
grassroots, member-led organization that has worked to improve the lives of Bronx residents. Our mission is to unite diverse peoples and institutions to
fight for racial justice and economic democracy through community organizing that transforms the Bronx and beyond. For over four decades, the NWBCCC has helped Bronx residents develop visionary leadership, build community power and
revitalize neighborhoods. The organization emphasizes community control, direct action, and building alternative models that develop local leadership, win concrete victories and support a broader ecosystem and movement for
transformative change.
