The Sharing Center has been preventing homelessness and hunger since 1986. Last year, over 20,000 neighbors received a hand up during the toughest times of their lives. By sharing food, providing emergency financial assistance and essential resources such as bus passes to gain steady employment, brand new shoes for a child in need, or a warm shower and free laundry service - we are helping to create respite and comfort for those on the brink of hunger and homelessness. Our Oasis is the only resource drop-in facility in Seminole County for our homeless neighbors to find community and support during their journey. Through our workforce development program, ProjectRISE, we help adults who are unemployed or underemployed obtain and keep jobs that can lead to self-sufficiency. Four weeks of classroom instruction are dedicated to emotional intelligence, job-finding skills and financial literacy.
Roughly 98% of our workforce are volunteers; serving over 42,000 hours to help fulfill our mission in our Distribution Center, Pantry, and Thrift Stores. 90% of every donation or purchase supports our neighbors in need.
