Great ideas are a dime a dozen; great execution takes hard work.
Although great salespeople and great marketers can cover up a lot of inefficiencies, building the foundation of a revenue driving organization and scaling up will often expose those inefficiencies. The simple fact is that not every seller and marketer out there is an "A" player.
This means that as companies grow they need to implement flexible processes that act as force multipliers and make the sum of their parts better than the individual contributions would be on their own. This is the essential function of a company. Product and vision are a big part of the that, but process and operational excellence allow for product and vision to meet the market.
