Upper Darby School District is one of the largest township school districts in the United States, with nearly 13,000 students among its 13 schools. Designated a “Great Place to Work” by the Philadelphia Inquirer in 2010, the District employs about 1800 professionals. In this community of neighborhoods, residents reflect a great diversity of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds representing over 90 different home languages. The District enrolls over 2,050 students served in its English Language Learner program, over 2,400 students in its special education programs, and 178 high school students attend career and technical programs in two county-level schools.
