Kanda River Limited is an IT consulting and filmmaking company based in Hong Kong. Founded by Dan Carew in 2007, we are a small agile company helping our clients solve IT challenges and make digital films.
We believe the answer to Nicolas Carr's question "Does IT Matter?" is increasingly "no". For better or worse, IT is increasingly seen as necessary but unsexy plumbing, not part of most companies core competencies and best out-sourced and hosted "plug and play" in a cloud. We're experts at project management of core "plumbing" projects (ERP, retail, CRM, B2B, B2C, B2E) and "the cloud". But on top of the plumbing comes an opportunity for companies to transform their workplaces, with Enterprise 2.0 collaboration tools and processes (wikis, blogs, presence, tags, mobile apps, social networks, expert search, employee-generated content, video, and DIY sites, workflow and DMS). We're excited about this transformation going on--often using Microsoft Sharepoint and OCS--and expert at this.
Our other core competency is digital cinema. We're pioneers in this field, with one of the first Red One digital cinema 4K cameras in Asia (and soon the first 5K Epic in Hong Kong). We're a boutique production and post-production digital cinema house--for indie filmmakers, by indie filmmakers. Our own films have been nominated for awards in South Africa and the UK ("Hard Fall," written, produced and directed by Dan Carew) and premiered at Toronto Intl Film Fest ("Little Sister," Associate Producer & Chief Digital Cinema Consultant: Dan Carew).
