The Tehachapi Unified School District encompasses an excellent and diverse educational program to students living within the area. Student enrollment is approximately 4,900 students in Kindergarten through the 12th grade. The district operates three elementary schools, one middle school, an alternative education school and one comprehensive high school. Tehachapi is well known for their diverse and excellent academic and athletic programs. Tehachapi High School offers an extensive variety of academic courses and extracurricular activities. The East Kern Regional Occupation Program includes training in criminal justice, certified nursing assistant and restaurant careers. The core curriculum prepares every student for their next step and the Advanced Placement classes allow students to earn college credits. The students annually have garnered honors in Academic Decathlon, Mock Trials, Mathletes and the Space Settlement Design competition sponsored by NASA. Football, along with the 13 other varsity sports, is well known throughout the Central Section of CIF as the athletic teams consistently vie for league titles and section honors. There are three elementary schools within the Tehachapi Unified School District. Two of our elementary schools have API scores over 700 and a third with a score over 800.The commitment by TUSD Staff/Administration and community ensures that the Tehachapi graduate will be technologically ready for the academic and business world of tomorrow.
