Founded in 1916, Mendes & Mount LLP is one of the largest firms in the country devoted exclusively to the practice of insurance law.
A marine-oriented practice at its inception, a robust non-marine practice soon developed as the fields of our clients' commercial activity broadened. Indeed, our role in such maritime settlements connected to vessels known as the Brittania, the Speedwell, the Powhattan, and the Lusitania expanded to such notable non-marine events as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse (1940), the Great Salad Oil Swindle (1963) the Staten Island Tank Explosion (1973) and infamous J. David Domenelli ponzi scheme (1984).
With client demand, the Firm’s litigation and claims servicing capabilities were enhanced to meet the complex challenges posed by environmental and toxic tort liabilities. And into a new century, with legal talent and technology, these capabilities have been enpanded to address any insurance issue arising in the fields of professional liability, healthcare, aerospace, energy and now, cyber data privacy and security.
Our commitment to our clients' ever-growing needs has been, and will remain to be, the hallmark of our practice.
Ever respectful of our over 100 year tradition, the Mendes of today maintains the sophistication that is required to fully understand the complexities of today's insurance world. Sensitive to our clients' requirements, we will always exist to inform, advise and counsel on the insurance issues of the day.
