Sweet Justice is a purpose-driven enterprise aimed to provide supported employment for people leaving prison, in an industry that is both essential for Australia’s food security and which has a high demand for skilled workers – the beekeeping industry.
We tackle the social problem of recidivism, improve regional communities, and help the environment with our specific focus on honey bee health.
Our work begins in the justice system with prison-based pathway education programs that result in industry-ready certification. Programs are tailored to each centre and the students’ needs.
A key role that Sweet Justice plays is supporting our trainees’ path to parole. Where necessary we support staggering leave from prison into work. The parole process requires a RTO or an employer with a plan for the parolee, committed to support their parole. Our aim is to be both RTO and employer, providing our trainees with continuity from prison to parole and beyond.
The Sweet Justice commercial beekeeping enterprise provides pollination services to horticulture and produces a range of honey and wax products (coming soon).
