Prior to 1959, a farm was operated on the present site of The Farms Country Club.
The farming was discontinued and an alternative use for the property while maintaining its natural appearance was sought. Several gentlemen from Wallingford, Meriden and Cheshire suggested the possibility of creating a much needed family club in the area.
In June 1961, construction of the 18-hole golf course and clubhouse was begun. On July 4, 1962, The Farms Country Club was opened with a dedication ceremony. An Olympic-size swimming pool and six tennis courts were added to the facility. In 1986, renovations were made which included enlargement of the formal dining room and the addition of a deck overlooking the pool.
For over 50 years The Farms Country Club has enriched the social lives of many families in the greater New Haven area.
The Farms is member-owned and operated, with all classes of members having voting privileges. An elected Board of Governors, composed of twelve members, sets, maintains, and enforces our standards of excellence. Our courteous and highly professional staff greets you by name and strives to meet your every need.
