Sygehus Sønderjylland (Hospital of Southern Jutland) is a hospital with activities in the three cities of Aabenraa, Sønderborg and Tønder and with a coverage area of approx. 235.000 inhabitants in the Southern part of Jutland.
Sygehus Sønderjylland treats patients with almost every kind of disease.
Sygehus Sønderjylland carries out approx. 430.000 discharges and outpatient visits yearly. About 1700 children are born every year in the hospital. The central accident and emergency department in Aabenraa, the accident and emergency unit in Sønderborg and the nurseled accident and emergency unit Tønder receives all together about 35.5000 visits.
Sygehus Sønderjylland has 369 hospital beds.
In the years to come Sygehus Sønderjylland will carry through a new hospital structure resulting in a future Sygehus Sønderjylland consisting of an emergency hospital in Aabenraa, a specialist hospital in Sønderborg and a same-day hospital in Tønder. On all the mentioned places new buildings will arise and others will be rebuilt.
Sygehus Sønderjylland focuses on optimizing the processes that add value to the patients - promoting the visions of high quality 24 hours a day.
To fulfil this vision the hospital must be build in such way, that the patient meets the correct healthcare competences regardless of where or when he/she enters the hospital.
The hospital must be focused on the patients and have a healthcare organization across specialties.
