Hitchcock Free Academy (HFA) is a non-profit community center located in Brimfield, MA, providing educational, recreational, and cultural programs to residents of Brimfield, Holland, Sturbridge, Wales, and the surrounding communities.
HFA was founded in 1855 by Brimfield's Samuel Austin Hitchcock to "provide for adolescents the advantages of education of which he had been deprived," and thrived for 100 years. In the early 1950's, the Tantasqua Regional School District was formed, and in 1955 HFA transformed into a community center.
Today HFA offers a wide variety of programs for all ages, hosts various fundraising events such as an annual auto show, is a meeting place for community groups, and offers some free programs as well.
