BronxCare is the largest voluntary, not-for-profit health and teaching hospital system serving the South and Central Bronx, with 859 beds and more than 4,500 employees. We have two main hospital divisions; a Life Recovery Center (for chemical dependency) and other mental health programs; a Skilled Nursing Home facility; and numerous outpatient practices, including our nine-story Health and Wellness Center, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center, and state-of-the-art Cancer Care facility. In the inpatient and outpatient areas, our expert and experienced team is delivering exceptional care. Our ER is one of the busiest in New York, and the BronxCare Network is providing close to one million outpatient visits annually.
Our 2023 full three-year accreditation from the Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accrediting authority for hospitals, as well as 16 accredited residency programs are further validations of BronxCare’s medical excellence. Additionally, our medical school affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and clinical collaboration with the Mount Sinai Health System are enhancing quality, continuity, and evaluation of care, as well as providing shared resources. BronxCare outpatient practices are also certified as a Level-Three Patient Centered Medical Home (the highest designation) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
As an engine for positive change, BronxCare has infused more than $300 million into the Bronx economy, including a 60,000 square foot BronxCare Health and Wellness Center for outpatient care, 56,000 square foot BronxCare Life Recovery Center for chemical dependency services, 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art Cancer Care facility, as well as a new Linear Accelerator, Interventional Radiology Suite, expanded Ophthalmology area, and a new Pediatric Center.
