Polar Research and Policy Initiative (also known as PRPI or The Polar Connection) is a London-based international think-tank dedicated to Arctic, Nordic, North Atlantic, North Pacific and Antarctic affairs. Headquartered in the UK and with a presence across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific, PRPI is the world's leading Arctic-focused think-tank that operates principally in the international arena and is committed to supporting sustainable regional development through multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral and multi-national dialogue and cooperation.
Every year, PRPI convenes 50-60 high-level policy dialogues around the world that bring together policymakers, business executives, civil society heads and thought leaders to exchange ideas, make connections and identify avenues for collaboration on topics of shared concern or interest. With over 90,000 readers and site outreach of more than 1.4 million, its digital portal The Polar Connection is the world's largest platform for Arctic analysis and commentary. More recently, PRPI has expanded our mandate to include the North Atlantic and North Pacific regions. We are also the co-convenors of the CANUS bi-national Arctic Security Dialogues, and are currently editing a volume on North American Arctic Security that will be published early in 2019.
As an Atlanticist and Commonwealth-oriented think-tank, PRPI is especially committed to strengthening the UK-US Special Relationship and UK-Commonwealth relations when it comes to Arctic, Nordic, North Atlantic, North Pacific and Antarctic engagement. Likewise, it is committed to strengthening research, policy, commercial and cultural relations between Commonwealth member states and Arctic Council member states.
