Local shopping – one billion consumers spending $10trillion over-the-counter every year – is one of the last bastions of popular consumer pastimes yet to have its own online platform.
Given the stunning success to date of digital platforms developed for so many other niche consumer activities, this presents a truly remarkable opportunity and it’s easy to see why:
Imagine: “One central, dedicated, portal with enough product content and retail outlet coverage to allow shoppers anywhere to find and / or buy any goods being sold locally across the developed world.”
The affiliate revenue potential (sales commissions from retailers) is $1trillion a year alone – one of half a dozen significant AND proven revenue streams the platform would generate.
The revenue potential of such a platform is so vast and lucrative, in fact, it’s almost impossible to assess the full commercial opportunity in a single financial model.
