The Awesome Music Project (AMP) is a Canadian charitable foundation exploring accelerating awareness, research, and solutions related to music and mental health.
In the Fall of 2019, AMP published a best-selling book titled "Songs of Hope andHappiness", which featured stories from well known Canadians such as SarahMcLachlan, Rick Mercer, Chris Hadfield, Michael Bublé, and also school
teachers, health care workers, taxi drivers and your next door neighbour.
Since then, AMP has brought the book to life through a series of intimate concertsthat bring storytellers, musicians and scientists together. Featuring artists suchas Dan Hill, Jim and Ed from BNL, The Good Lovelies, Sarah Slean and DannyMichel, these events have helped raise over $100, 000 for music therapy and research programs.
The Awesome Music Project’s goal is to raise money and awareness for music
therapy programs and research. Our inaugural fundraising efforts helped to drive research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health that would further validate the use of music to treat anxiety and depression.
In response to COVID-19, The Awesome Music Project has launched AMP4Life, a program to help address the massive mental health challenges facing Canadians in the months and years following the pandemic. This initiative will bring sustainable music and music therapy programs through both physical and digital delivery to communities in need. We are initially targeting Long Term Care Facilities, and will expand to include schools, hospitals, and isolated
communities that will benefit from the healing power of music.
