The Child and Nature Alliance of Canada supports deep and meaningful connections to nature and the outdoors to foster healthy childhood development and transformative learning experiences for Canadian children and youth. We are invested in collaborative leadership and a multi-sectoral approach to further innovative practice, policy development and research in four distinct areas:
1) Education : Forest & Nature School
2) Youth Leadership: Natural Leaders Alliance
3) Research and Knowledge Translation: Healthy Children, Healthy Spaces
4) National Dialogue
The Child and Nature Alliance of Canada is focused on having a national reach in all programme areas, with a focus on mainstreaming the movement to connect children to nature, building accessible, national communities of practice. We have a strong focus on partnering with Aboriginal communities, lower income communities, as well as other minority groups in order to strengthen our commitment to equity and access across Canada.
Our headquarters are located at the Forest and Nature School in Ottawa, ON. It is situated on 900 acres of National Capital Commission land. This is our 'Centre of Excellence'; where educators, families and visitors from across Canada, and around the world, can see Forest School in action and learn innovative approaches and best practices in this emerging field.
