Girl Scouts is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls where in a safe and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. The mission of Girl Scouts is “Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.” Founded in 1912, Girl Scouting provides every girl, everywhere a chance to develop leadership skills, become a vital part of the community, and build character.
Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council (GSHNC) focuses on program areas that help develop today’s girls into tomorrow’s leaders. Leadership development and education are at the core of all our program focus areas which include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math); Environmental Leadership and Outdoor Adventure; and Financial Literacy. Our programs include a myriad of enriching experiences, including community service projects, cultural exchanges and field trips for girls in grades K-12.
GSHNC serves approximately 16,000 girls and adults in eight counties of North and South Carolina. These counties are: Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Rowan, Stanly, Union, and York (S.C.).
