Koahnic Broadcast Corporation (KBC) is a non-profit, Alaska Native and Native American media center headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. KBC was created as a non-profit corporation in 1992 by Alaska Native leaders to address the need for a media service to preserve culture and languages, combat widespread misconceptions and prejudices against Alaska Natives, and create cross-cultural bridges. Since 1992, Koahnic’s work has grown to be more national in scope and in 2000 its mission statement was updated to reflect that. The mission of Koahnic Broadcast Corporation is to be the leader in bringing Native voices to Alaska and the nation. KBC currently employs a staff of 19, in Anchorage and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
