Game Design & Art Collaboration was founded in 2015 by a small group of UC Santa Cruz students. Our mission statement is to promote the collaborative work of artists, musicians, programmers, writers and game designers, with an emphasis on networking and skill sharing.
GDA currently teaches a variety of workshops, hosts alumni panels, and fosters a community of passionate learners and game developers. In addition, each academic year GDA runs a six month long Mock Studio, producing one playable game from the ground up. The members of GDA work together completely out of personal interest to learn what it takes to bring a game from concept to production. As of now, GDA is the largest Game Development club on UCSC's campus, with a grown network of over 2,000 alumni.
GDA also:
- Organizes the Global Game Jam at Santa Cruz.
- Provides students with scholarship opportunities to attend the annual Game Developers Conference.
- Was a part of the team to coordinate the first ever Student Game Developers Alliance Summit (2017).
