World Archery is the international governing body for the sport of archery. It is recognised the International Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee and many other organisations. World Archery serves to promote and regulate archery worldwide, developing the sport with over 150 member associations through international events, coaching and development.
World Archery was founded on 4 September 1931 in Lwow, Poland by seven nations (France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, the United States, Hungary and Italy) as FITA. The federation is currently based in the Olympic capital of Lausanne, Switzerland.
World Archery is responsible for the premier international archery tour, the Archery World Cup, which it has organised since its inaugural year in 2006.
